Crafting the future of manufacturing in aviation: A collaborative approach

About 2.5% of the world's CO2 emissions are caused by aerial transport. Even though it might seem a small percentage, it is shooting up and expected to keep rising if we don’t act soon.

The European Commission has called the researchers to solve two big challenges:

  1. Net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
  2. Complete digitalization of aviation.

Challenging goals need teamwork. One project can’t make it to the top! That’s why our six projects have rolled up their sleeves and joined forces to take the road less travelled.
For that reason, six projects, GENEX, DOMMINIO, INFINITE, CAELESTIS, SUSTAINAR, and MORPHO, are working on advanced digital technologies, to change how airframe and engine parts are designed, produced, fixed, and recycled. The coordinators of the six projects present each project's approach targeting advanced digital technologies to change how airframe and engine parts are designed, manufactured and maintained towards a sustainable and smart aviation tech.
