GENEX is pleased to announce the publication of the fourth and final issue of its Newsletter, marking the successful conclusion of a 42 month Horizon Europe journey dedicated to advancing the digitalisation and sustainability of next generation aircraft composite structures. This special edition captures the energy and achievements of the project’s closing event, held across Zaragoza and Teruel Airport, where partners, industry experts, and researchers gathered to reflect on the project’s milestones and envision the future of aerospace innovation.

GENEX has been featured in a dedicated article by CompositesWorld, highlighting the key outcomes presented during the project’s Final Event. The article outlines GENEX’s contributions in the areas of digital twins for aircraft structures, smart manufacturing and digitalisation in aviation, as well as advanced composites repair and sustainability driven innovation. It provides a concise overview of how the project is supporting the adoption of digital technologies to enhance maintenance, certification, and lifecycle management in the aviation sector.

The GENEX Final Event will feature a high-level round table titled “Impact of Digitalization in Aviation: Sustainability, Maintenance, Certification,” taking place on 17 February 2026 at the Instituto Tecnológico de Aragón (ITA) in Zaragoza, Spain. This dynamic 45‑minute discussion will bring together leading experts from across the aviation sector to explore how digital transformation is reshaping the industry—examining its influence on sustainability, maintenance practices, and certification processes.

The third issue of the GENEX Newsletter is now live, featuring the latest advancements in digital frameworks, composite manufacturing innovations, and AI-powered structural health monitoring for next-generation aircraft. This edition also highlights the project’s active presence at leading aviation conferences and showcases research breakthroughs that are shaping the future of sustainable aerospace.

On September 24, 2025, GENEX joined forces with DEMOQUAS and TOSCA (PROFACTOR) for a webinar titled “Advancing Digitalization and Composite Technologies for Safer, More Sustainable Aviation.” The session showcased innovations in digital tools, sensor technologies, and recyclable composite materials.
